How we began...
Mersally Avendano is the founder and Director of Mersy G. Dance Company. Mersally's story begins in Culiacan, Mexico where she was born to a teenage musician and an aerobics instructor who later immigrated to the states. She is a natural born dancer and performer, a proud wife and mother to 3 beautiful kids and a dog.

Growing up, Mersally faced the many challenges that come with moving to another country. She utilized dance as an outlet during her middle school and high school years, which gave her a deep understanding of the meaning behind sharing the art of dance.
Mersally started her dance training in her country of origin at the early age of 4 years old. She has trained in a variety of dance styles including Ballet, Jazz, Flamenco, Hip-Hop & Latin Ballroom.
After teaching for 15 plus years, Mersally decided it was time to make an impact and created Mersy G. Dance Company. The company is a reflection of her mission to enhance the lives of others thru dance, celebrate different cultures and create community engagement.
Xochiltl Huitzil
Xochilt Huitzil is a Dance Artist based in Phoenix, Arizona. She identifies as a Salsera, Educator, and Community engager. Upon completing her Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Dance Education at Arizona State University she was awarded the Outstanding Graduate Award from the Herberger Institute for the Design and the Arts. This was awarded to her for her work with the ASU Salsa Club, as the Event Coordinator, and President, as well as the Latin Sol Festival Director, a free dance festival for the ASU community. She is currently a principle dancer for Stilo Dance Company based in Tempe, Arizona, and the Stilo Kids and Teens Co-director.

Sophie Boisvert
Sophie started student teaching at the young age of 13, and has been working as lead teacher in dance studios since she was 17 years old. Sophie has extensive dance training that started in a competitive studio setting and most recently
earned her a Bachelor of Arts in dance. Most recently she worked with highly competitive dancers at SMDAC cleaning and sometimes choreographing dances. Her most advanced senior competitive teen won “Highest Scoring Routine” at
Leap. Additionally, Sophie has had her choreography win 1st and 2nd overall at multiple competitions (from Novice to Advanced) and has been recognized with Judges Choice
and Choreography Awards. Sophie prides herself on teaching with compassion and understanding, while making her class feel like a safe space for all students. She teaches contemp, modern, hip hop, jazz, ballet, tap, and musical theatre.
